Something Cheesy?

If CHEESE is your thing you'll love this months post...with a South American flavour!

From our Deli:
Rocinante Queso de Cabra

'Queso de Cabra' is a pasteurized Spanish table cheese made from goat's milk.
Aged for approximately 1 month, this cheese has an ivory coloured pate and a
semi firm texture. While it is made with goats milk, it does not have the
tangy flavour characteristics that most people associate with goat cheese.
Instead its flavour is more woody with undertones of hazelnuts and almonds.
Manufactured by the Rocinante Company in Spain, it is commonly known as
simply "Queso de Cabra" or "Puro de Cabra". Rocinante is one of the more
popular companies in America. We also stock 'Queso de Cabra al Vino' - Aged 1
Month and washed in Red Wine, imagine that cheese & wine in one bite!

Calasparra Rice

•Each bag makes over 13 cups cooked rice
•Organic short grain rice
•Very absorbent, good for sauces & broths
•Retains shape, not sticky or creamy
•No pesticides or herbicides used

Calasparra Rice is grown in the mountains of the Spanish province of Murcia, where it enjoys pure mountain water irrigation, unlike the usual rice fields by the Mediterranean Sea.

Calasparra Rice is a unique, centuries-old short grain rice with a leisurely
maturing process -- 30% slower than other kinds of rice. This longer growing
cycle produces kernels that are exceptionally dehydrated - ready to absorb
even more of the tasty sauces and flavors of paella broth and other

Carmenctia's Paprika

Sweet or hot, it is one of Carmencita's most classical products.

Some trivia...

Did you know...?
The story of this condiment dates back to 1493 when Cristopher Columbus
brought paprika peppers back to Spain, after the arrival of the Spanish
colonists in America, and he gave them to the Catholic King and Queen as a
gift. Planting extended quickly throughout Spain and then to the rest of
Europe, achieving great fame in countries such as Hungary, where paprika is
called "páprika".
